Once in a Lifetime Video

This is a video of a live elephant video. Warning to parents...it is graphic. But is was amazing to be caught on camera.

And people wonder why I got married.....

What a week...

Within the last week's time the following has happened.
  1. We had to get rid of our cat Keaton. He was continually peeing in the house and with our new house, we just can't have that. It was a very sad day (and the following few days) for both of us. I had had him for about 12 years. Kevin is sad, because Keaton liked him almost from the start, and for that cat, that is saying something.
  2. Monday morning, Kevin woke me up at 8:02, sounds nice right? Well considering that I have to be at school at 8:10.  Needless to say, I was late to work.
  3. On Monday we found out that the reason Kevin is having so much shoulder pain is because they found a tumor in the top of the humorous. It has cut off the blood supply to the top of the bone which is dying. We were expecting a torn rotator cuff or torn ligament. We have talked at lengths about this, and I have cried my self to self several nights, but we know that we will get through this.
  4. It was conferences this week. now because I have a few children, that are absolutely perfect in their parents eyes, there was no getting through to them. So that makes if difficult to be told that it is my problem.
  5. On Friday, I got out from work at 12:30 because it was conference week, and my conferences were finished. Kevin and I took the time to go to the antique show. I have never really been into antiques, but I had a mission. There was a dealer that had albums, and I wanted to be able to find an album that maybe Kevin was looking for. However, because they were all on the floor in boxes, neither one of us wanted to put the effort to look through them. I was on the mission to find a pez container or two, but there wasn't one at all to be found. However, as we were walking down one of the aisles, Kevin pointed out to me a cookbook that was from/about the movie, It's a Wonderful Life. There were several different prints of the movie I was admiring them, and pointing them out to Kevin when the blonde lady manning the booth said, That is me," as she pointed to Zuzu. I looked at her and said, "No way!." She smiled and again said she was, and that she really was. now if by some slim chance you haven't seen the movie. Zuzu was George Bailey's (Jimmy Stewart) youngest daughter. This is one of my FAVORITE movies. I was really in shock. I looked at the prints as she was autographing. I was just tickled pink. We purchased a print, which she autographed, for our bedroom. It was the highlight of my week.
  6. After the antique show, we went to the WSU Tri-City campus and watched a chunk of Seattle's Short Film Festival. It was great. Very unique. There was maybe 35 people there. It was held in a lecture hall type of classroom. Comfortable chairs, and every seat in the house was great. We look forward to going again next year.

This is the first film that we saw: Eulogy for Jack

Today we are going back to the antique show as I saw an English Setter charm, that I would like to put on a necklace. Also, I am going to get Carolyn Grimes autograph again on a business card, and have my picture taken with her. I don't know how I will scrapbook it, but just in case, I want to do it now, as I won't get the opportunity again. That is a great way to end what started as a not so terrific week.

The Impressive Clergyman in The Princess Bride

A year ago yesterday, I married the man of my dreams.  I am so thankful that he is in my life.  My fairy tale truly did come true.

For our anniversary, we went out to town to Lehman Hot Springs.  We stayed in the lodge, where we had access to the springs 24 hours a day.  It was nice to go down after it was closed and have the place to ourselves.  We soaked, laid around, watched dvds, and really relaxed.  It was such a nice treat to get away.  While we were away, I made arrangements for a surprise for Kevin when we arrived home.  I left them a bed sheet that said Happy Anniversary for the garage, and left some red Christmas lights and rose pedals for the bedroom.  He was very surprised.  For dinner we went to The Bonefish Grill where we had my favorite dessert, bananas foster.  It was specially made of us as it was not on the menu!  It was a great way to celebrate our first year of marriage.

From the moment I met Kevin, I knew he was special.  I am so lucky to have him in my life.  He is special to me in so many ways and really makes me the luckiest woman in the world!  I look forward to many many many more years with him.

ARK

If any of you have seen Evan Almighty, then you know what ARK means.  To the rest of you that think of Noah's boat...you are on the right path.  In the movie, Evan, a congressman, is told by God to build an ark because a flood is coming.  Through much denial and learning, Even finally sees his purpose and does what god asked.  Once he has saved the citizens from the flood he sees how God's plan was revealed.  At the end of the movie, God pulls Evan aside and tells him that it all begins with one Act of Random Kindness.  If you haven't seen it or Bruce Almighty, I recommend them both!

I recently saw this movie again and it gave me the idea to have my students do ARKs and then share what they did and how they felt about it.  My students have done lots of things.  One shovels his neighbor's yard every time it snows.  One student said that he helped clean the baseball bleachers after a game.  One simple one a student did was they bought a candy gram at school for a random student in school (not one in their grade or someone that they knew!)  This has been an ongoing project.  The more kids share about what they do, the more others are interested in doing them.  I share some things that I or my husband and I have done. Yesterday, while getting gas, I had an extra $5 in my pocket that I didn't know I had.  When I went in to pay for my gas, I gave the clerk the $5 bill and asked her to apply it to the next person that came in to buy gas.  She thought I was out of my mind, and asked me twice is that was what I wanted to do.  I sure hope that she followed through with it.  I know it brought a smile to my face knowing what I would feel like if someone did that for me.

The third musketter

Tiberius Gable Naylor

Has it really been a whole year?

A year ago today, I lost one of my best friends.  He was my companion for almost 12 years.  He brought laughter, anger, embarrassment, humiliation, and unconditional love.  He was the most active dog that I have ever met right down to the end.  There will never be another Brannigan, though someday in the future, there may be another Golden.  They are still my favorite breed, and if Kevin had a quarter for every time I said, "There's a golden!" we would be able to afford a cruise to Alaska by now.  For those of you that met him, I know you have memories, as his character can not be forgotten easily.  For those of you that didn't, you are fortunate as he hasn't chewed your underwear, slobbered your clothes, jumped in your face, or licked you to death!  I am sure that Baerrington misses him too, but he totally loves Ryland.  For those of you that have pets, love them like there is no tomorrow as it is hard to lose a best friend.  For those of you who don't, love the ones your friends and family have!
